The Silver Serpent picks up a few months after The Gilded Wolves. The team is falling apart, only holding on by single threads after the murder of one of their teammates. -The Gilded Wolves Spoilers will now be part of the review-

Laila is dying. Zofia’s sister is dying. Enrique’s career is dying. Séverin’s humanity is dying.

And Hypnos is dying to be part of their gang.

Séverin desperate to bring back his brother and protect his friends from any more pain throws himself in finding clues that would lead him to The Divine Lyrics a long lost treasure held by the Fallen House said to give you the powers of a god.

This fast-paced novel shoves you immediately into action, as the gang performs another heist to retrieve the key that will lead them to The Divine Lyrics.

Chokshi’s element writing makes the world feel ethereal like. Where the words truly captivate you into the story, making you feel like part of the treasure hunting team – each dealing with the grief of losing Tristan and their own personal demons.

Sometimes the reader knows things the characters don’t know, and you want to desperately tell them to protect them from pain. Give them a ray of hope!

But at the same time, you know the characters are on a secret only they know, and you desperately wish to be included in, much like Hypnos.

It was fascinating to see how much of their actions and goals were affected by the death of Tristan. It’s the beautiful character development of your dreams. Because at the end of the day they are a family and the love for each other has no limits (even when they don’t admit it between themselves).

Chokshi is one of the best YA fantasy writer’s we have been graced with. She’s not afraid to push her writing and bring the much-needed diversity the book world needs. My soul rings seeing characters with the same brown skin as me be hero’s, scholars, treasure hunters, and multilayered humans with faults and dreams.

Reading her work is like eating an exquisite multilayer pastry at a fancy bakery that you only go-to for that special occasion. Worth every penny. Worth every word.

She’s also fantastic at tricking her readers, to later pull the ultimate twist at the end which makes you scream for the continuation of the novel.

Honestly, if you haven’t read The Gilded Wolves, what are you doing with your life? Treat yourself to this diverse multilayer beauty that will keep you up late at night as you devour each and every word.
